David Hisco CEO New Zealand and Group Executive, Pacific and International Retail
David Hisco was appointed CEO of ANZ New Zealand, New Zealand’s largest financial services organisation, in August 2010. He is also Group Executive responsible for the Pacific and International Retail. 
Skills, experience and expertise

During his 30+ year career at ANZ, David has held a number of senior executive roles in retail and commercial banking including leading ANZ’s global Commercial segment from 2008 to 2014.

His experience in New Zealand includes being Managing Director of finance company UDC between 1998 and 2000, oversight of Eftpos New Zealand from 2002 to 2004, and Chairman of UDC from 2005 to 2007.  David holds a Bachelor of Business (Accounting) from Deakin University, a Graduate Diploma in Business Administration and an Executive Masters of Business Administration, both from Monash University (Mt Eliza).

In 2015 David became a ‘Champion for Change’ a leader actively committed to diversity of thought and inclusiveness from all those who work for and with ANZ. In 2013, he won the Asian Banker CEO Leadership Achievement Award for New Zealand for successfully leading the merger of The National Bank of New Zealand with ANZ.

He is a founding director of the Australian food donation charity Second Bite, a Fellow of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia, and a Fellow Certified Practicing Accountant (Australia).

He has more than 20 years experience in the finance and banking sector in senior advisory, underwriting and markets roles.

David joined ANZ in 2005 from Deutsche Bank Australia, where he was responsible for leading acquisition financing, refinancing and leveraged financing assignments for the bank in Australia and New Zealand.

Immediately prior to joining Deutsche Bank, David was Group Director & Head of Debt Markets at Bancorp New Zealand.

Nigel established the Ultra High Net Worth team within Private Banking and has led the team during a strong growth phase. Prior to joining the Wealth Division, he had 10 years in the New Zealand debt capital markets where he was responsible for the structuring and distribution of complex debt capital markets instruments including bonds, hybrid securities and structured products in both the public and private markets.
