Career

With more than 15 years’ experience in international banking and financial services, Shannon is an experienced executive leader, having proven functional and people leadership credentials across diverse cultures and markets in Australia, Europe and across the Asia Pacific region.

Shannon joined ANZ as Group Financial Controller in September 2012, before being appointed to the role of Chief Financial Officer, Institutional in December 2016. He leads a team of more than 300 staff across all of the countries in which ANZ operates. 

Prior to joining ANZ, he spent eight years working at Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) and prior to that almost seven years at KPMG.

His specialities include: Finance strategy development and execution, statutory and regulatory reporting, financial policy and governance, treasury management, driving functional transformation, systems change management and people leadership through significant change.

Shannon has a Bachelor of Commerce from Monash University and completed the INSEAD Risk Management in Banking and Strategic Management in Banking programmes.

Shannon is a member of the Australian Institute of Chartered Accountants.
